Frequently Asked Questions — Hydraulic Pivot Pins

What information do you need to quote a hydraulic pivot pin?

Please provide a drawing or sketch with diameter, length, end configuration (e.g., shouldered, threaded, grooved), tolerance/fit, material, heat treatment, surface finish, and quantity. If you don’t have a drawing, we can review measurements and application details to help define the spec.

Which materials are available?

Common choices include 1045, 4140, and 4340 carbon/alloy steels as well as 304 and 17-4 PH stainless. We can recommend the best grade based on load, wear, and corrosion requirements.

Do you offer heat treatment and surface finishes?

Yes. Options include case hardening, through hardening, and induction hardening. Finishes include machined bare, black oxide, electroless nickel, phosphate, and hard chrome, among others.

What tolerances and surface finishes can you hold?

Typical capabilities include roundness to 0.0005 in TIR and surface finish to 32 µin Ra, depending on material, size, and process. We’ll confirm achievable tolerances during quoting.

What is the usual lead time?

Lead time varies by complexity and quantity. Prototype and short-run orders are often completed quickly, while larger batches may require additional time for heat treat and finishing. Rush options are available when the schedule allows.

Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We support one-off prototypes through production runs. There is no strict MOQ; pricing scales with quantity and setup requirements.

Can you match or replace an existing OEM pivot pin?

Yes. Provide the OEM part number or a sample with key measurements and material/finish details. We can reverse-engineer and produce a functional equivalent.

Do you provide inspection or certification documents?

Yes. We can include inspection reports and a Certificate of Conformance on request. Additional documentation can be arranged for material and heat-treat certifications.

Do you work under NDA or keep drawings confidential?

Absolutely. We routinely work under NDA and treat all customer drawings and specifications as confidential.

How do I request a quote?
